Who we are
We are a record label and publishing house based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. We are not funded by major record labels and as behind the scenes we also have “real, 9-5 jobs” we don´t depend on how much we sell here in order to pay our bills. It doesn´t get more “indi” than that;-)
Being an indi label for us means we don´t depend on anyone and when choosing with whom we work with we don’t take in consideration monetary aspects. Making a few bucks out of what we sell is nice and we welcome it but it´s not our main goal.
Prison Break means for us that music is a way to escape the daily lives we live in. As consumers, being brought to another state of mind by the music we listen to. And as artists and producers, being as well brought to another (creative) state of mind by the music we create.
As public acceptance of a song and industry success is in our oppinion mostly subjective, and depend very much on luck or immeasurable factors, our focus is not on finding a success formula but rather on the creative process and the artist himself. Our prototype for an artist is the writer Charles Bukowski, who delivered letters during the day as a post office worker and dropped literary bombs at night sitting in his bedroom. And like him who, against all odds, through literature did manage to escape his daily-grind life sentence, we also hope to do the same, through music or other ventures. We accept the prison we are in, and are as happy as one can be here. But in the back of our minds we do look outside the prison walls of our lives and hope something could change. It´s difficult but even if it indeed happens one day, and we are able to break free, our motto won´t change and deep inside we will always be as indi as it gets.
